    ELDERS

    The Session at Sovereign Grace consists of the senior pastor, associate pastors and ruling elders. The Biblical model of leadership is probably best characterized in the phrase "servant leader." Just as Christ didn't come to be served, but to serve (Matthew 20:28), the role of the elder is to be a servant leader as they oversee and shepherd. A ruling elder is a member who has been elected by the other Sovereign Grace members. The qualifications and motivations for the office are described in 1 Peter 5:2-3, 1 Timothy 3:1-7, and Titus 1:6-9.

    ALEX CHOI

    Alex is a native of Los Angeles having grown up in different parts of the city. He received his undergraduate degree in sociology from the University of Southern California. In 2001 he moved to Boston to pursue graduate and post-graduate degrees from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. He has been married to his wife Michele since 2000 and they have five children.

    His responsibilities at the church include teaching, counseling, leadership development, and providing the church with vision/direction. Alex also founded and oversees RENEWLA which is a non-profit organization that seeks to serve the urban poor youth in Los Angeles.

    DAN PRYOR

    Dan is the senior pastor of Plymouth Church in Whittier, CA. His ministry experience includes church planting in downtown Los Angeles, urban ministry, campus ministry, overseas ministry. He and his wife have two children who also are a part of his congregation as well.

    Dan’s responsibility as an advisory elder is general oversight of Sovereign Grace and to keep Pastor Alex accountable in areas of ministry, family, and spiritual life.

    JIM BLAKEMAN

    Jim has been attending Sovereign Grace since the spring of 2008. He has served as an elder of New Life Church in Glenside, PA. He currently is the vice president of Emergency Groups Office in Arcadia

    Jim brings to Sovereign Grace not only his ministry experience but also seminary training. He graduated from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA. He and his wife Linda have three children and currently live in downtown Los Angeles.
